In Bagombo Snuff Box verzamelen hij en academicus Peter Reed 24 eerder ongebundelde kortverhalen. Ze tonen de evolutie van Vonnegut, maar vooral zijn grote talent. Pareltjes, stuk voor stuk! Ook de preface en het voorwoord van respectievelijk Reed en Vonnegut zelf zijn om van te smullen. Onder andere door zijn 8 regels voor het fabriceren van een goed kortverhaal (en het breken daar van).
